Originally
put pen to paper for United back in 1997 amidst his tour of
the Harrogate League having spent spells at Beckwithshaw,
Pannal Sports & Spa Athletic.
Tempted back into the fold as one of
the first building bricks of Jono Way's new Hampsthwaite
Millennium.
'Coatesy' has a great right foot and
is a solid full back with the drive and enthusiasm to push a
team on but has a dark side that sees him sink into a 'Coatesy
Mood Special'.
When on top of his game, can be one
of the most enthusiastic players on the pitch, is excellent in
the air for one of, if not THE, smallest players in the team.
Tough tackling, no nonsense, capable
of playing anywhere in defence as well as a holding midfield
position. Coates is equally comfortable on the left or right
of midfield and has good vision for long passes into the
Strikers.
One-time Striker Coates played the
final game of the season up front last season and notched his
first ever career hat-trick and the first one at Home for
Hampsthwaite United this decade!
