14 Nick Way

Squad No: 14
Name: Nick Way
Age: 22
Signed: 2002
Apps: 46
Goals: 0

Appeared in all 28 games last season at some stage, in addition to a one-time appearence in the 1st Division. Invaluable squad member capable of filling in on the right hand side at either right back or in his preferred position of right midfield.

Improving player after playing a bit-part in a less than average 2002/03 lineup, posesses a great right foot, however has yet to fully utilise his abilities when called upon.

Faces an uphill struggle to edge the Player-Manager from his favoured right midfield spot but provides excellent cover for the right midfield option.

Has great speed, ideal for chasing back a last-ditch situation and will surely gain in confidence and start to show the same drive when going forward as he does in reverse.

When quizzed about his namesake, Manager Way had the following words of encouragement.

"We need Nick, definately, but he'll have to be patient, like the rest of the squad. We've raised the bar this year, the entire team has improved  and with it competition for places. I didn't select him for our opening game against Pannal Sports and looking at the opposition and the way the game went I think everyone is in agreement i made the right decision. He came on late against Red Arrows and looked dangerous going forward. A dry flat surface suits him best, as we can use his pace to our advantage. He harries and hassles well, a great option to have. The great thing is last year he was unsure about signing as he didn't think he could get in the side. Now he wants a place in the starting eleven THIS year! It shows ambition, last year we were absolutely useless and he didn't think he could cut it. Now the team's full of superstars and he wants a place!

I will say this... competition for places is hot hot hot! I'm aiming this at the entire squad, rather than one individual. You need to make your mind up. Do you want to play a BIG part in a poor side that get hammered every week or do you want to play YOUR part in a successful team? Granted some people will play more than others, that's life."
